A Love She Never Had Ch 1

Chante was standing in front of the 3 way mirror looking at herself.  This was the 3rd wedding dress she had tried on and she wasn’t really feeling anything.  It was a beautiful gown but it just didn’t seem to look right on her.  She decided to go back to the dressing room and try it one more time.

The next dress she tried on was not the same style, it was strapless, with that mermaid kind of look but it stopped right at the knees and the rest flared like a skirt.  It had little sparkles on the material but it wasn’t flashy.  The dress seemed fitted but the center had ruching so she felt it hid her stomach.

When Chante reached the 3 way mirror this time her friends were sitting quietly staring at her.  She couldn’t tell what they were thinking, she turned and looked at herself in the mirror and she became speechless.  She really liked the dress, she thought she actually looked very pretty in the dress.  Her friends started speaking one by one, telling how pretty she looked or how they felt it was the dress for her.  “I really think Micheal will love it” her sister Sheila told her.

Chante looked at herself again in the mirror, the more she looked at herself, the more she liked the dress.  It still seemed like something was missing and she couldn’t put her finger on it.  She really wished her mother was with her but she knew that wasn’t what was making her feel uncomfortable.  “Well what do you think”  the sales clerk asked her.

“I don’t know”, “I’m just not sure”. Chante answered.   Her sister got up and walked to the platform, she put her arm around her sister’s waist, “I know you are wishing mom was here”, her sister whispered, “close your eyes and take a deep breathe and picture her smiling”, “she would be so proud, probably crying right now”, her sister whispered.  “Open your eyes Chante”.  Chante opened her eyes and looked at her sister, both of them tears in their eyes smiled at each other.  “How do you feel” her sister asked?  “I do feel moma sis but I don’t feel right in this dress she said”.  “Then let’s go her sister told her”.  Chante turned without another word and went back to the dressing room to get dressed.

Chante met with her friends and her sister in the lobby of the bridal shop.  She apologized to them for having them come out today and not choosing a dress.  She also explained she did not want to pick out bridesmaids dresses until she picks out the wedding dress.  The ladies all seemed to be understanding and they decided to go to lunch together.  Sheila told them that she had to run an errand and Chante couldn’t go because she had made plans to meet with wedding vendors.  Chante looked at her sister with a funny look, she didn’t have any meetings with vendors today but her sister gave her a look that let her know not to say anything.

As the ladies left the parking lot Sheila and Chante stood there and talked.  Sheila took both of Chante’s hands in hers and she looked at her sister in her eyes and she asked her what was going on.  Chante asked “what do you mean sis”.  Sheila told her, “don’t play me Chante, I know you very well, you were not yourself today and you seem a little unhappy for a blushing bride”.  “Oh Sheila, I don’t know what you are talking about, I am very happy I think I may be just a little overwhelmed with the wedding that’s all”.

“If you say so”, Sheila said.  Well I sent the ladies in a different direction so we could have some sister time today.  Let’s go get lunch and a little pampering so you can relax.  Oh really, Chante got excited and started smiling, “your treat” she asked Sheila”.  “Yes my dear sister, my treat” Sheila said.
