Are You Worthy!

“I want the big house, the fancy new car, a real career she cried”!  “Lord why have you forsaken me, why am I suffering, why can’t I have the desires of my heart”.  “It seems everyone is being blessed but me, it’s not fair that I have to continuously suffer and struggle”.  Jenny screamed and cried out loud.

She couldn’t understand why she had to constantly go through trials and tribulations.  Why did she have to experience so many ups and downs.  She knew she wasn’t a model christian but she paid tithes sometimes, she prayed sometimes and she attended church most Sundays even if it was online.  What could she possibly be doing wrong?

She read a devotional every day but she wasn’t reading it in the mornings like she started out.  She had gotten distracted  when she fell back into a sunken place.  She started getting up late again so she was reading whenever she had a moment during the day.

When Jenny read her devotional today it made her really stop and think; was she Truly Worthy of all that she wanted from God?  What had she done that would deem her “Worthy”!  Had she put God 1st in everything she did, was she conscious of what she said when she spoke to others?  Did she serve as a positive advocate for his word?

Jenny felt a little sensitive about her tantrum now and a little embarrassed.  Could it be that she was being selfish, expecting something for nothing?   She stopped what she was doing and started to give it real thought.  She couldn’t help but feel that she was coming up short when it came down to making sure she was fulfilling her purpose.

Are You Worthy!  She thought?  How many hours have you volunteered?  How many programs have you participated in at church?  How many times have you noticed someone was down and you tried to brighten their day?  Now that one really stung!   She treated people like they treated her most of the time.  She had gotten tired of being misused and taken for granted.

Are You Worthy!  She thought again?  Why should God bless me she thought?  I have been a part time Christian.  Jenny became teary eyed as she realized she had not been a good and faithful servant.  She realized when asked the question  Are You Worthy!  The answer for her is no!  She wasn’t.

Jenny started to right a prayer of forgiveness to God.  She asked him to forgive her for all of her short comings.  She had been selfish and unfaithful to God.  She began to think about all the times she gave up on God because things didn’t work out the way she wanted or the times she felt paying a bill was more important than tithes.  She thought about the times she didn’t have faith in God to provide because she couldn’t see him working in her favour.

She became disappointed in herself as she wrote her prayer.  As she wrote, she began to speak her prayer out loud.  She wanted the words to manifest in her spirit.  She no longer asked the question Are You Worthy because she already knew the answer.  She asked God to forgive her, to make her over, to cleanse her, to rehabilitate her, to revive her.

Are You Worthy“!

What have you done to be worthy?  Are you actively serving God, are you serving his purpose for your life?  Have you given any thought to how you are serving God?

Many of us come up short when asked these questions.  We do not attend any time of worship, we do not pay tithes, we do not serve in a ministry,  we do not pray nor study the bible, we do not love God’s people nor do we follow Jesus.  These are things that God requires but not all that he asks of us.  If you are not doing what he requires how can you be worthy!

Are You Worthy!
