Tina sat back in her chair and started scrolling the dating app again. She had a notification to pop up, it was a message for a man she was interested in, they had been messaging each other. She clicked to view the message and felt disappointed. The message read, “you have a big ole booty”. She got aggravated and didn’t bother to respond.
Just as she was getting ready to close the app, she noticed she had another message. She looked at it for a moment hesitantly, still aggravated. She clicked on it and to her surprise it was a message from the man that was younger than her. Surprisingly she felt calm and decided to read the message.
He had responded to her message asking how was his day. “It was great and yours sexy and you’re welcome”. She thought about it for a moment, then she responded it was good. He responded, “so that’s great so beautiful how can I get to know you better”? Tina didn’t respond and she closed the app so he wouldn’t see her online.
Tina didn’t log into the app for the remainder of the day, she was still a little discouraged. When she logged in the next morning, she had several notifications but didn’t check them. Tina picked up the phone around lunch time and started going through the notifications on the dating app. She had a message from the younger man that had been viewing her.
“Hi there God’s gorgeous Nubian Queen”. That caught her off guard and made her smile. She felt very appreciative and reciprocated. Hi King, she responded. He responded instantly, “Oh my! My Queen, how’s your day gorgeous Nubian gift from God, sexy and thick”. Lord have mercy, I hope that you’re having a great day”.
Tina laughed and just looked in disbelief for a moment. She responded her day was blessed and asked how was his day. He instantly responded as if waiting and watching for a message from her. They went back and forth for a few minutes messaging each other. Tina hadn’t realize how much they had messaged each other in such a short time. She immediately told him she had to go and put her phone down.
That was definitely not what she intended she thought, she was just going to speak in response to his message. They weren’t really looking for the same thing anyway and most importantly he was young. She decided to go back through her smart picks and ignore the younger man, she was determined to find someone that met her profile.
She noticed she had messages and was a little nervous about checking them. She decided not to check them and put the phone down. She put her focus back into work to distract herself and didn’t realize it was time to get off. She didn’t even think about the app until she got home. She decided to take her shower before doing her usual swiping and searching.
Tina logged into the app and took a deep sigh. She clicked on the icon to go ahead and check the messages. There was a message from one man she thought might be a good fit for her until she read the message and he was commenting on her body. The other message was from the young man, he stated she was very beautiful, he loved her smile and her eyes and wanted to know what she likes to do for fun.
Tina felt that nudge, that inner sense and she knew what it was. She decided to move forward and message him instead of judging him because of his age. She responded asking him his name and he again as if waiting for her he responded saying is name was Cole and asked what kind of movies she liked. They messaged each other a few times and then he asked how could he contact her.
She thought for a moment, if this was a step she wanted to take. She looked back at some of the messages and his words were never used towards her by anyone before. In fact she had dreamed of stories where she would have someone talk to her that way. She decided to give him her clear talk cell phone number, it wouldn’t hurt anything it was just a prepaid phone. She wasn’t giving him her main cell number so if anything went wrong she didn’t have to worry about him harassing her.
